Along with mulch, we also carry a full line of firewood products. Our wood is cut at 16-18"" lengths, split, run through a firewood tumbler to remove debris, and allowed to dry. We offer quantities of wood as small as .65 cubic foot bundles up to multiple cords and everything in between. Types of wood we offer include: oak, hickory, hedge, pinon pine and mixed hardwoods.
Some cities we deliver to on a regular basis include: Olathe, Overland Park, Leawood, Mission Hills, Prairie Village, Mission, Roeland Park, Lenexa, Shawnee, Bonner Springs, Spring Hill, Gardner, Kansas City, Raytown, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, and Independence.
The processor takes raw logs and automates the cutting / splitting via the following three step process:
Our fee to stack the wood includes placing it anywhere at your home we can access with a wheelbarrow. We do not have a limit on the number of feet we will transport it, however the distance needs to be reasonable. We will not carry wood up steps.
Automation of the cutting and splitting process has two distinct advantages over traditional cutting with a chainsaw and splitting by hand. First, because we can set the length at which the processor cuts the wood, gone are the days of you requesting 16" wood and receiving pieces that range from 12" - 20". This consistency not only means the overall appearance of the wood is much better, it also means you shouldn't have to re-cut any pieces in order to make them fit in your fireplace / stove. Second, because our wood is run through a six way wedge, it means all of the wood we deliver has been split. Split wood dries much faster, burns more thoroughly than round logs, and produces significantly more heat.
We measure a half cord as a row of wood 8' long x 4' high. We measure a cord as a row 16' x 4' (frequently we will stack a cord in two rows 8' long, as many customers don't have 16' of available space).
Currently we do not allowing wood to be picked up due to extremely high order volume.
We try to mix a little of both with each load. However if we can't pick it up with one hand, we generally consider it too big and will split it one more time. If you have a preference on the wood being large or small, let us know and we can put a custom order together for you.
If the wood is going to be stacked outside, normally you do not need to be home for us to deliver. Just let us know where you would like the wood stacked and we'll do the rest.
The answer to this question has everything to do with how often you plan on burning and to a certain degree how large/efficient of a fireplace or stove you have. If you are going to burn at least three times a week, and order between September and the end of the year, we recommend you order at least a cord. If you are going to burn primarily on the weekends and order early in the season we would probably recommend a cord as well. If you order late in the season and are just burning occasionally on the weekends, a half cord is probably enough.
